It's saturday

If you want to go to a good movie this weekend, one you can actually take your kids to, go see Jack and Jill by Adam Sandler.  Yes of course there is a certain amount of bathroom humour, but theres very little if any vugarity or sexual content.  Lots of laughs, lots of familiar faces for those of us who follow Adam Sandler movies...keep your eyes open in certain scenes and you will see loads of other familiar actors who normally are not in Sandler's movies, and I dont mean small screen actors, hes got the big names in this one, but I wont spoil it for you...go see the movie!!!   Lots of twists and turns, lots of mixed emotions in this movie, happy, sad or indifferent in spots, it was one of his better movies.  Seeing Adam play himself AND his twin sister...it was so well done seeing both siblings in the same shot, you couldnt tell they were the same person, you would have thought they were two separate people...And keep your eyes on the credits at the end, you will be surprised at some of the names you see, makes you want to go right back and see it again so you can see if you catch those people in the movie the second time around....and here is a suggestion...if you can, go to the early bird or the matinee...far less patrons and you can enjoy it much better.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Congratulations to Tony Stewart, Stewart/Haas racing team....Nascar's 2011 champion, and the winner of the final race of the season last night....and what a wild ride it was, coming from the back of the pack twice to sneak the win away from Carl Edward who everyone had pegged as the shoe in to win his first championship.  Well, it seems God is a Tony Stewart fan as well, he held off a huge storm cell till the moment Tony won the race and got out of his car, it was if God was showering Tony in his own version of champagne lol.

Congratulations also to Carl Edwards for making the race worthwhile to watch and bringing back the Nascar of the old days, where a race was a race, it was clean, it was fair, and it was edge of your seat racing.....Maybe next year, Carl, if you came this close this year, there is no telling where you will come out next year....

Two totally awesome drivers....Nascar at its best, showing the class that it hasnt seen since Dale Earnhardt died.

Good morning and happy weekend, y'all!

You will have to forgive me being so slow at posting, but as many of you know, a year and a half ago I had my spine reconstructed and was diagnosed with a few other medical issues that I won't go into unless someone is bored and wants to hear about it.  But they did some new tests to contrast with the last MRI, only to find more problems.  I am now going thru more treatment, not pleasant, but I will keep going thru it if it even helps a little bit...one good day out of 365 is better than none, right?  But back to the point, it gets a little hard to sit in one spot for any length of time, so I do what I can when I can.  But as the owner and operator of this site/blog, my promise to you all is that I will be posting more frequently.  I will keep my promise to you, but you will have to be a little patient with me in case there are real bad days....and with this cold starting to set in, there may be a few more bad days than good....but there are some companies that I wish to do business with and I want them to see me as a professional and know that I can do a good job of supporting them and promoting their company here on my site.

If a product/company is good, and I believe in their products I will happily blog about them and their products...of course I will blog about the bad stuff just as much, as you all know.  And yes I did in fact write Quaker Oats and I did get a response and restitution for a bad product and they gave me coupons to try some of their other products as well....I very much believe in the Quaker Oats company as I have used them for as long as I can remember my grandparents making it for breakfast, baking with it, putting it in meatloaf, you name it, their products were/are staples in our home.

And just as you see me writing about Quaker Oats products, you will see me supporting or tearing down other companies as necessity warrants....so that you, the consumer, can make an honest judgement based on someone that has tried a product and wants you to know about it, not just edible items but anything else that other companies want to send me to try out and review and blog about.

If there are companies out there that I really believe in, and if they have a banner ad or button you may just see it pop up on my blog site!

Well that is all for now, I will be back later, as I have some really great posts for you to read as soon as I post them!

Have a fantastic weekend, my dear readers and friends/family

new review

What can I say, if you know me, you know Im a California native (tho i dont always admit it), and to see the way i cook and eat you would think I was a southern girl.  I went shopping this weekend and saw something on the shelf that was unique to me, so I thought I would give it a shot.  The folks at Quaker  have put out a line of products called "Instant Grits" in various different flavours (according to the box anyway...the store of course only had the traditional butter flavour).

Well I got turned on to grits when my family went to Cracker Barrel for our favourite southern style breakfast.  The grits there are so smooth and creamy, that I literally fell in love with them.  So I figred that I would try something other than the usual oats or cereal or whatever, ....I knew I should have held out but they sounded so good....

I made them as per the directions on the box, and they were so salty I could barely eat them straight.  I used milk not water to mix it, and it didnt help much at all, we even tried mixing things in such as peanut butter in hubby's bowl...with cinnamon sugar...it didnt help much, and it was too soupy.   I tried brown sugar with cinnamon and it wasnt too bad, it really cut the salt, but it was still too soupy...by the time i let it set, to thicken up, it got too cold, so it was just a waste of time.

Don't get me wrong, I love Quaker products and I have never had one of their products fail like this on me, maybe it was a bad batch, or something.  I would like  to find the other flavours that they offer and try them to see if they are any different.

Also, the texture to me was off putting...too grainy rather than smoothe and creamy.  It is a great concept that seemed to fall flat on its face....so try at your own risk....
