I am very much into trying new things in life and telling others of my experiences. I am not just about food, tho that is one of my major passions, I am about everything in life...crafting, gadgets, etc. I will try things and post the outcome here, to help others make educated purchasing choices so that no one has to waste money on a product, not knowing if it is good, or just another piece of junk. Come with me on my journey!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.comBlogger164125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-13153503862918484462018-08-11T13:32:00.002-07:002018-08-11T13:32:24.086-07:00

Moments ago I posted about strokes that could worsen or become deadly due to the cooler weather on the horizon...

Many of you do not know that I am now a distributor of CBD oil. The information below is taken from a site on the internet. I am not posting these things because I am trying to make a sale, tho that is always a plus...CBD oil is the wave of the future and the future starts now. Literally everyone in my family uses this product because it helps with so many different health issues.

It is being used to treat cancer, diabetes, parkinsons disease, pain (chronic and otherwise), the list is literally endless...The main thing that has hit the news is that there is a huge awareness of opiate drug abuse in this country. CBD oil is helping to do away with that problem...I can attest to that and give my own testimonial...I was put on opiate drugs at the young age of 12. I even took myself off them once, and did pretty well till other health issues crept up...and I was placed back on them and was told that I would never be able to stay off the opiate drugs due to the severity of my health issues.

Suffice it to say, I have spent my life proving doctors wrong. I took myself off all opiate drugs, valium, sleeping pills, and even lowered my use of high blood pressure medication...ever since April I am free of all those nasty meds that made me feel worse than the initial health problems did to begin with.

Drop me an email or message me on facebook...lets talk and let me help you to feel better...I am glad I found these products...they are legal in all 50 states...but so many places that sell them are making money by scamming their customers at large...I will tell you whatever you want to know, with proven facts...the products i sell are 100% natural, top of the line, and still remain the least expensive compared to plenty of other sites...

Let's talk!

The Facts of a Stroke

Strokes are the nation’s 5th largest killer and affect approximately 800,000 people each year. A stroke occurs when blood flow to an area of the brain is disrupted. Upon disruption, brain cells that are deprived of vital oxygen and/or glucose can die. This interruption can cause permanent brain damage and in some cases, death.

There are two types of strokes: ischemic and hemorrhagic. An ischemic stroke accounts for about 87% of all strokes and occurs due to clotting in the brain’s blood vessels, ceasing blood from reaching the brain. Ischemic strokes can be brought on by high blood pressure. The second type of stroke is a hemorrhagic stroke. This type of stroke is less common and makes up about 13% of all strokes. However, hemorrhagic strokes are responsible for about 40% of all stroke deaths. Hemorrhagic strokes occur when a blood vessel within the brain ruptures. The blood then spills into or around the brain, creating pressure and damaging cells. High blood pressure is an important risk factor for increasing your chances of having a stroke, but atrial fibrillation may increase the risk of a stroke by 5x. Therefore, strokes do not discriminate against age, and in fact, nearly a quarter of strokes occur in persons under the age of 65. Cannabis Helps to Repair and Prevent Further Brain Injury Caused By Strokes

Various research and studies are continuing to expand as more and more tests yield positive results for cannabis as an effective neuroprotectant against brain and stroke trauma. And scholarly papers dating back as early as 1998 suggested that cannabinoids, cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), protect equally well against neurotoxicity mediated by certain receptors.Neurotoxicity occurs when excess toxins accumulate in neurological tissue throughout the body, causing the brain and nervous system to function improperly. Symptoms mimic a number of other conditions, including, but not limited to, chronic fatigue syndrome, ADD/ADHD, recurrent sinus troubles, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and others. Neurotoxicity is triggered in a strokedue to the lack of oxygen attributed to the buildup of metabolites in blood vessels that service the brain.

Studies show that the aforementioned receptors are calcium-dependent. During an ischemic stroke, large quantities of glutamate neurotransmitters are released, causing an overstimulation of N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors (NMDAr), 2-amino-3- (4-butyl-3-hydroxy isoxazole-5-yl) propionic acid (AMPA) and kainate-type receptors. This results in metabolic stress, causing an accumulation ofintracellular calcium that becomes toxic to the body’s cells. Studies have demonstrated how neurotoxicity can be reduced by antioxidants or antagonists to NMDAr and AMPA/kainate receptors. That’s where cannabis comes into play. These studies, therefore, serve as one of many examples of why routine detox is not only healthy but may help add years to a patient’s or consumer’s life.

Cannabinoids have been shown to prevent glutamate neurotoxicity by turning on cannabinoid receptors, thereby reducing the calcium influx. Particularly, cannabidiol (CBD), a component of the marijuana plant Cannabis sativa, does not turn on cannabinoid receptors and thereby doesn't produce psychoactive effects seen in THC. Cannabidiol doesn’t activate the cannabinoid receptor but DOES protect neurons from death by glutamate neurotoxicity. Additionally, although butylhydroxytoluene (BHT), used in stroke medications, are linked to promoting tumors, cannabidiol has no such link. Studies have also shown that cannabidiol is not toxic, making it a great potential treatment for strokes. CBD is most promising for treating stroke victims due to its neutrality on cannabinoid receptors, which alleviates undesired psychotropic feelings of experiencing the often noted cannabis “high.”

Cannabis and its Powerful Antioxidant Compounds for the Human Body

CBD, THC, and accompanying phytocannabinoids have been proven to protect neurons from glutamate-induced cell death. Cannabis not only serves as apowerful antioxidant to assist with cancer relief, but many researchers and medical professionals have noted the power of cannabis to optimize cellular communication throughout the body as an effective neurogenerative and neuroprotectant. This means that cannabis can help repair, build, and protect neurons. While the War On Drugs attempted to falsely claim that cannabis kills brain cells, science has proven the opposite time and time again. Combined with the fact that CBD does not produce a psychotropic experience, this makes cannabis a powerfully effective holistic aid in stroke recovery for the 75% of senior patients (65+) that are affected by stroke.

How You Can Use Cannabis to Prevent Stroke

It’s important to note that diet and nutrition in addition to responsible cannabinoid consumption may reduce the risk of stroke. The right fruits and vegetables combined with physical exercise help to maintain healthy brain oxygen levels and blood flow. Stroke discussions are very serious and there are a number of other considerations that should be discussed with your healthcare provider should you exhibiting symptoms or fear certain risk factors. And for those who wish to utilize the natural healing properties of cannabis, there are various methods to responsibly consume cannabis of which include juicing raw/decarboxylated cannabis flower in smoothies, smoking or vaping, eating edibles, applying topicals, and more. It’s just a matter of choosing a responsible method of consumption with proper dosing that fits you or your loved ones’ needs. Many patients and consumers have safe and convenient access to the benefits of responsible cannabinoid consumption. And our supporting medical professionals and physicians at James Henry SF advocate for independent patient research to discover the therapeutic power of cannabis, which incorporates optimizing your health through a therapeutic lifestyle.

Summer is almost over, and fall and cooler weather is on the horizon...so keep this information in mind: Falling temperatures may be accompanied by rising numbers of deaths from stroke, especially among older people, researchers find.

That’s the word from Brazilian researchers who found that in the case of older people the incidence of stroke associated with colder weather was higher among women.

"At the beginning of the study, we thought pronounced temperature variability, whether in a warmer or cooler direction, would correlate similarly with both stroke subtypes (ischemic and hemorrhagic) . In other words, there would be more deaths from both subtypes on very cold or very hot days,” said São Paulo, Brazil, geographer Priscilla Venâncio Ikefuti. “That's not what we found, however. In the case of hemorrhagic stroke, cold is a far more important factor, especially for women.”

In the case of hemorrhagic stroke (the most severe subtype), lower temperatures were found to be a risk factor for both men and women, especially below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Among over-65s, lower temperatures represented a higher risk of hemorrhagic stroke for women. This finding was unexpected and surprised the researchers.

The finding that stroke is a more frequent cause of death among over-65s could be explained as due to diminished metabolism in the elderly. In response to changes in temperature, older people are less capable of maintaining homeostasis, the tendency to resist change in order to maintain constant physiological conditions necessary to survival.

"We also found that for all cases of stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke in particular, women are more vulnerable than men," said Ikefuti. "The data also show that stroke mortality is higher among women on average, albeit slightly. The relative risk of having a stroke in correlation with mean temperature variations was also higher for women than men. Similarly, lower mean temperatures affected women more than men in respect of both stroke subtypes."

Stress due to cold, she explained, results in increased blood viscosity and platelet count, raising arterial blood pressure enough to pose the threat of hemorrhagic stroke.

According to Alfesio Luis Ferreira Braga, a professor at Unisantos who co-authored the study, another important explanation for the higher risk of stroke among women is menopause, when the body produces less estrogen, the hormone that stimulates or controls the development and maintenance of female characteristics. Lack of estrogen during menopause subjects women to a higher risk of vascular disease, among several other conditions.

"Our study contributes to the understanding of the impact of temperature on stroke mortality in a tropical country, where temperature might be assumed not to be a concern regarding the risk of stroke. It proves that isn't the case, at least not in São Paulo City," Braga said.

"Although the city is in a subtropical region, so that mean temperatures are higher than in countries with a temperate climate, substantial daily temperature variations and the occurrence of cold fronts or heatwaves are indeed risk factors for stroke, especially among the elderly, and above all among women."

The study was published in the International Journal of Biometeorology.

I really have to stop promising to post daily, it obviously jinxes me and causes me NOT to be able to post...!

Anyway....

I don't know how many of you have been to New Mexico, or who have thought about coming this way, but if/when you do come here, I will usher you to one of the greatest little specialty restaurants in my area...it is called "Urban Hot Dog".

I have been going to this little hot dog joint since it first opened, and they have one of the most unusual menus I have ever seen...so many different hot dogs, almost impossible to pick just one! All of them are fabulous and filling! All hot dogs/sausages at Urban Hot Dog, are amazing, each one is a masterpiece of flavour and colour!

Every now and again, they come up with new hot dog masterpieces...you need to go here frequently so as to not miss any of these amazing dogs!

My family and I made a trip to Urban Hot Dog just this past week, and we caught one of these masterpieces...to first see it, you would think "this can't be good, it is too weird"...but you know what? Dont judge a book by it's cover...open wide and take a bite! You won't be sorry that you did...

The last trip we had gone to the menu board and picked which hot dogs we wanted to devour ...and made our way to the order counter...that's when we saw that they had a new dog ...all of us looked at each other, and that's when it happened, we all ordered the very same dog, abandoning the ones we had planned to order. This one was so unusual that we couldn't resist!

Why was this dog so different you ask? Imagine this...the dog is called "Snoop Dogg"...lots of things run thru your head when you read that title but hold onto your seat...It starts out with a steamed bun, slathered with peanut butter, a deep fried dog, topped with caramel corn and a drizzle of bbq sauce! Sounds weird, right? It is one of the most amazing dogs I have ever had...don't get me wrong, all their dogs are amazing, but this one is over the top! A little sweet, a little heat, and you are in hot dog heaven...!!

Normally my family and I will each order a different hot dog...never the same as each other, that way we can taste three different hot dogs at each trip...we take bites of each others hot dogs and see how incredible they all are!

If you think the hot dogs are all that is amazing, you would be wrong...they have several different types of french fries or onion strings...and dozens of toppings and house made sauces!

The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is amazing! You always feel welcome and special...! The owner is Matthew Bernabe...he is one of the nicest people around. Helpful, well mannered and friendly! Not often do I say that about people, rarely does the staff at other restaruants ever open doors for you and treat you like family...that is why Matthew Bernabe gets high marks from me...!!

I can't say enough about this group...all I know is, as for my family and I, we will be back...time and time again!

Good morning, readers!

I don't know how many of you out there have tried kettle corn, but, up until recently, I never had...

I had heard about kettle corn, both positive and negative comments, but I just never had the opportunity to try it. So, when our local Smith's grocery store had boxed microwave popcorn on sale, I jumped at the chance to try it! I didn't know that microwave popcorn came in kettle corn flavour, I honestly thought I was going to have to find a recipe to make it myself. Thankfully, we did find kettle corn flavour already premade in microwaveable packages on sale, 10 for $10

I had never heard of this brand before, but Cousin Willie's Microwave Popcorn is amazing! Of course the first flavour we tried was kettle corn! I have to tell you, this is the ONLY microwave popcorn, I have ever tried, that virtually every kernel popped! Nothing worse than having a bunch of unpopped kernels at the bottom of the bag.

My son dove into the bag first, beating me to the punch...I saw the sheepish little smile start to tug at the corners of his mouth, as it always did, when he tries something great for the first time, and when I saw his eyes start to sparkle, I knew it had to be awesome! (and he was not wrong!) The popcorn was light and fluffy, not weighed down with a load of artificial butter flavour...just enough that you know it is there, just enough to let the slightly sweet kettle corn flavour shine!

To be honest, this is the best tasting microwave popcorn I have ever ate! I can't wait to try the other flavours from Cousin Willie's! If you see Cousin Willie's on your store shelves, I urge you to buy it!! (especially the kettle corn!)
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas/Channukah/Kwanzaa and New Year!

Kind of mellow around here...we were still living out of boxes, being as we had just moved (still moving, but just emptying out our storage unit). I still made our awesome holiday dinners...lots of great food. I had the chance to try some fabulous new recipes, which I will share with you here very soon.

I have lots of new reviews to share with you, recipes, businesses, etc. Been very busy trying to open myself up to businesses, offering them a little free advertising here on my blog, both in the way of blog reviews AND if the business or product is great enough, I will put a "button" here on my blog so that a reader can click on the button and it will take them directly to the company/product's website!

I want to be helpful to all of you, by telling you how good or bad something is...I would hate you to waste your hard earned money on something that may be garbage. I am not just going to do local businesses and such, I will make sure that I review products/services/businesses from around the country and around the world when possible!

If there is something you would like to see me write about, here on my blog, please feel free to drop me a line, privately either here or in my email: Mommyofanangel38@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

I will be doing at least two blog reviews here today and keep your eyes open, I will be starting to blog far more frequently than I have in the past (new years resolution of sorts), now that everyone's health has improved, and hubby is back to school again, lol.

Write/talk to you soon!

It has been awhile since I blogged to you last...I am back...

Since I last wrote you, but so much has happened, that I just havent been able to get back to you...I have a lot of posts to enter very soon.

I just got out of the hospital a few weeks ago, after having major spinal reconstruction...again. I hope this one takes better than the last two spinal reconstructions. This was what they call a two tier surgery...one surgery went in thru my side, below my ribcage, to insert a spacer between two vertebrae to replace the damaged disk. Then, they cleaned up and did a second surgery, where my back was opened to replace the faulty rods, screws and spacers that the last surgeon put in. Then they added an extension just north of the last surgery...so vertebrae at the L3 to the S1 vertebrae are "fused". I am not allowed to bend, stoop, twist or lift more than ten lbs. I am healing at an incredible rate according to my new surgeon.

The next very bad thing to take place, was that the management of the apartment complex we were living in decided they wanted to kick us out (probably to raise the rent for the next person coming in) It seems this complex is for short term living while people either had a house built or till they could find something more permanent. we have lived in those apartments for over 6 years...so that was probably what triggered them to kick us out...we had no help to move so we had to do everything ourselves. they wanted us out on november 10th, which was when I was going in for surgery...so with a bit of coercion they agreed to let us stay till december 7th...but with no help, we were still rather stuck...I went with the boys to help pack, right after I got out of the hospital...which wasnt a smart thing to do, but had to be done!!

We had to leave a lot behind, we just didnt have the time, or the energy to move anything more, so much of our furniture got left, and various other things...But we were out before December 1st., and we have not looked back.

They tried to send us a bill for painting the apartment, getting rid of the furniture, deep cleaning, cleaning the rug, etc... It was them who kicked us out, they never fixed anything that we reported, the place was cockroach infested and mouse infested...they never sent in an exterminator so much of out belongings that we left were totally chewed up or messed on and not worth cleaning...so we left them. Not to mention, they never even cleaned the kitchen. The stove hood was greasy and sticky, the stove was not clean, instead of cleaning the counters, they painted over the dirt...yup, you read it right...they painted the counters. I know this because the longer we used the counters, the more the paint bubbled up and peeled, it was gross thinking paint may have gotten into our food, etc.

So, we are now settled into a 3 bedroom house, it is not as far out as the place we first lived when we moved here from California, but we are still a ways out on the outskirts of the city...very quiet, nice neighbours, no sirens, etc. We can even sit out and watch the stars at night because there are no city lights to blot out the stars, and we can watch our "pets" come into our yard and play with each other...we have wild cotton tails that come into our yard to eat the burr bearing weeds and nibble the leaves off our bush. We also have ground squirrels, owls, hawks, ravens and finches of all kinds that come into our yard to eat and play. Lots of fun to watch.

Ok,well I am done boring you, just wanted to catch you up to date with all the goings on from my end.

I will have more posts within the next day or so...have no fear!!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanza, etc....God bless you all!

C'ya next time!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-31950319989132347602017-10-18T09:45:00.000-07:002017-10-18T09:45:17.679-07:00Hello again, Readers!

Well, I was hoping to write you under better circumstances but, life happens. I just found out that I will be having my third spinal reconstruction on November 3rd. It will be what they call a two tier surgery. Part one will be putting spacers in between the vertebrae to replaced the degenerating discs. The second part will be to replace the rods and screws that are already holding my spine together, and also moving up one vertebrae as the disintegrating disc disease moves north up my spine.

Even tho they tell me I will be incapacitated and virtually immobile for some time...but I have surprised my surgeons thus far by how fast I heal...so we will see.

Now, back to my reviews...I do have several reviews to post for some wonderful products I have received from some awesome companies!

All these will start in my next post! Please keep on reading!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-74107315444092217382017-09-29T10:15:00.001-07:002017-09-29T10:15:01.998-07:00Hello one and all!

Have you ever just craved something? Ever think of food and found your mouth watering at the thought? The reason I ask, is that there is a fantastic little shop that serves the absolutely most mouth watering hot dogs/sausages you could ever have! My family and I usually hit this little shop every time we are out running errands...and the name of this shop is....Urban Hot Dog Company!! They have been around for a little while now, and we have been stopping in there. regularly, since they first opened. We have never been disappointed! My family and I have this great little "game" that we play every time we stop in at Urban Hot Dog Company. Each of us gets a different themed dog and when they arrive at our table, we each try each others hot dogs/sausages. That way, if it is as awesome as the last, we will know, and give it a shot our next time in.

Urban Hot Dog is located at: The Shops at Cottonwood, 10250 Cottonwood Park Dr. NW Albuquerque. If you want to check them out, before stopping in, their website is at: http://www.urbanhotdogcompany.com. There are so many choices of dogs and sausages, it is really hard to narrow it down to one! (that just means you get to come in more often, just to try the others!)

Are hot dogs/sausages not really what you are hungry for, stop in anyway...Urban Hot Dog Company has something for everyone's palate. There is beer battered cod, wild and crazy different fries with awesome toppings like rosemary and garlic, chili con queso, bleu cheese chives and truffle oil, etc. They even have sweet potato fries, onion strings, slaw, mac and cheese, grilled tofu, and so much more!!

You really have to go in, yourself and check them out! And if you like their goodies, and you feel like being a walking billboard, you can buy one of their cool shirts or hats ( I got one!! I always feel like being a walking billboard for them!!)

You have never gone in to a more welcoming establishment...the staff is always friendly and welcoming, always going out of their way to be the best they can be. Tables are cleared and cleaned in a timely manner, the food is delivered hot (and tasty) to your table with a smile (sure beats picking it up yourself!)

So why don't you treat yourself to one of the best dogs in town....drop in to Urban Hot Dog Company!! You won't be disappointed!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-30030944424819246732017-07-29T19:32:00.001-07:002017-07-29T19:32:23.975-07:00Coming out of hibernation!Hello one and all!

I know you all have been wondering where I have been...The past year and a half have been crazy. My husband has been battling with kidney cancer and a heart valve that was failing...so just when we think we have him back on the road to recovery and some semblance of normalcy, then we find out that the surgeon that operated on his cancer, caused a herniated bowel (that now needs to be operated on), which will be taken care of on Monday, July 31st.

I haven't even put out my usual yearly Christmas cards/letters...which is definitely not like me at all (for those of you who know me well). We have not moved, as of yet, but we will be doing so in the next few months. It is real slow going right now...trying to keep Phillip on the sofa, whilst Jr and I do the packing and most of the shuffling off to storage with the boxes as we pack them. Phillip is allowed to drive us, but not much else.

Things aren't going so well for me either. As you know, I had my right knee replaced not that long ago, that healed nicely but now, it is having all new problems...and the new surgeon thinks the replacement may need to be replaced, along with my left knee. As if that wasn't bad enough, my spine may need another surgery to fuse the next vertebrae above the last fusion, since it appears the disintegrating bone disease is moving north, which is something we feared would happen eventually, I had really hoped it would have waited a few more years down the road...but, we gotta do what we gotta do. I ain't ready to be an invalid yet, tho the pain does put me down more often than I would like to admit!

I also had both eyes operated on to remove double cataracts in each eye. Simple surgeries, no pain till one of the eyes ended up inflamed and that had to be the most agonizing pain I have ever been thru.

Jr has been doing well. He is fully homeschooled now. His middle school was making things rough on him and us in general. The online school he was attending was just as bad, so we gave up and took him out of school completely and teach him the proper curriculum and extra curricular activities. He is learning to drive and spends his time racing go karts and doing computer animation, when he isnt helping us or doing his studies that is.

Well, I don't want to bore you to tears in my first catch up post, there will be lots of new things coming down the pike...I am looking into advertising some good companies here on my blog, and posting about them as well. Only the best for my readers! My blog will be getting a new look very soon as these new things start happening. Bear with me folks, I haven't forgotten you!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-43282238648044548332015-01-11T06:26:00.000-08:002015-01-11T06:26:14.866-08:00Hello all!Would you all rather see more recipes or more reviews? Or would you rather me keep it all about even? Please let me hear from you. I don't want to give you what you do not want to read. As it is we get so much junk in our email boxes, I want to stand out so you have something to look forward to reading each day.

I hope to hear from you all. I do have lots of recipes and reviews waiting to come your way. I am going to post a few here and there until I hear from you all...and then I will post as many as you would like. Both holiday and regular recipes and all kinds of reviews.

If you are looking for a particular recipe, please let me know and I will happily find it for you. If I don't have it, I will find it for you. Tried and true recipes, Grandma's recipes, international recipes, desserts, main courses, appetizers, drinks...whatever you would like to see, I will gladly post them.

AnnamarieAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-69425396081656491562015-01-02T15:28:00.002-08:002015-01-02T15:28:15.456-08:00Good evening, dear readers!

It has been awhile since I blog posted to you. Life has been crazy the past couple of months. Hubby went in for open heart surgery to replace a valve in his heart that was no longer working properly, and if that was not bad enough, we also found out he has cancer on his kidney and adrenal gland. So after his open heart surgery heals up enough they are going to put him in to have the cancer surgery.

As for me, my son and I had a bad stomach virus that had us down for the count flat on our backs in bed for over a week, whilst hubby was in the hospital. We are good now, thankfully. But now I am suffering from some other kind of infection that is attacking both legs, causing them to swell, inflame and turn red. I am on antibiotics, so i have to let it run it's course.

I have several new reviews for you, mainly positive but I do have some glaringly negative ones as well...namely Dennys in Albuquerque. I also have a lot of product reviews as well.

If you recall, I was doing a lengthy product review for a particular company, apparently, that fell thru, I dont know if it was just a failure to communicate or if it was just a scam or what, but nothing further to report on this group.

I was also being considered to be another company's personal blogger, but that fell thru since they never bothered contacting me back and I got tired of emailing them. Another one bites the dust.

Happy new year to one and all, happy belated Christmas, Channukah, Winter Solstice, and Kwanzaa too!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-55658210795177743122014-10-19T00:16:00.002-07:002014-10-19T00:16:27.329-07:00Rimmel Scandeleyes Gel EyelinerWomen are always looking for ways to make themselves look beautiful, right? Aren't we always looking for that perfect product? Eyes, lips, hair, hands, nails, lips, etc? Wouldn't it be great to find that one product to make our one target area look better?

As for me, I already found fabulous products for my lips, nails and hair, which I will reveal in later blog posts, but right now, I would love to talk about a wonderful little product I just discovered, that is amazing!

Yup, I was one of those women who was always looking for the ultimate eye liner. I was stuck on this one eyeliner (who shall remain nameless) for years, it made my eyes look great, but it nearly always broke the bank for me, since it was much highter than anything else in my beauty regimen...and I wasn't making that much money at the time. So, even tho I live differently now, and can get pretty much whatever I need, but I always look for that bargain.

You can always find me hanging out at the makeup area, checking out new products and whatever deals I can find.

Well, while on one of these little jaunts to the makeup counter, I was looking around for what was new for eyeliner. So, I normally stick to the cheaper ends of the makeup area, but I decided to roam out of my comfort zone, and decided to heck out the Rimmel area, and something new caught my eye. The young lady filling up the cosmetic aisles had just gotten done filling in the Rimmel area, and I looked up and saw a product I thought I would never use...gel eyeliner.

I had always been a liquid or pen eyeliner kinda girl but I figured, let's try something new...what a surprise! I was getting tired of my eyes looking like racoon eyes, but I wanted my eyes to look wide awake and not like Alice Cooper, ya know? The produt is alled Rimmel Scandeleyes Gel Eyeliner. It is a pretty decent sized pot of the gel eyeliner and a nice brush that has a great tip on it. Upon reading the back of the product, I also found out it was waterproof, it gives up to 24 hours of rich intense colour that doesnt flake, smear or run.

I couldn't believe it, it really did sound too good to believe. Needless to say, I took it home. And I was truely amazed at how great this product really works. Every one of it's claims were completely true. I have actually been complimented on how great my eyes look!! And it was my first day out using the new product.
That was the sell point for me...can't wait to go and try the other colours. I can say it is easy to use, goes on smoothe and clean, and I won't go back to the other products, now that I have tried this one! Anyone want some used eyeliner?? lol For the price, this brand is far less expensive than any other brand, and literally works incredibly well...you won't be sorry if you pick up this product, you will be saving money in more than one way!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-63626190682667861052014-10-16T05:27:00.000-07:002014-10-16T05:27:37.569-07:00A new day...Another day of wondering what is going to happen. There is a gentleman who is trying to get me to blog for him, but he is trying to get my readershjip/following up..And I am trying to get my friends to add/follow me.

I don't know what is going on, but when i looked at my readership a few days ago, I had over 60 readers and then today, after broadcasting on facebook and meetme, to get my friends to join, I come in here to find I actually lost three readers! What's up with that?

Come on, Guys, I need all the readers I can get!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-11582689362425781032014-10-15T20:21:00.002-07:002014-10-15T20:21:37.835-07:00Homemade ChurrosHere is a fantastic little recipe, that is simple and fantastic.

Homemade Churros
Ingredients:
4tbsp sugar
2tsp cinnamon
3 1/4 cups bisquick or home made version(I will post this later)
2 cups hot water
vegetable oil

Heat 2 or 3 inches of oil in a saucepan over medium heat, until a thermometer inserted into the oil reads 375degrees f.

While the oil is heating combine cinnamon and 3tbsp of the sugar together in a small bowl and set aside.

In a medium sized bowl combine the bisquick, sugar, and hot water, mixing till a soft dough forms.

Carefully spoon the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a 1/4 inch star tip.

Once the oil has reached the correct temperature, carefully pipe 3 inch strips of dough into the hot oil. Cook until golden on all sides.

Remove from oil using a slotted spoon, and drain on paper towel or napkins. Roll the churros in cinnamon sugar. Serve.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-66329170044478553192014-10-14T09:06:00.002-07:002014-10-14T09:06:20.873-07:00Here is a review for you: Tiger Balm, Ultra StrengthAs many of you know, I have a lot of health issues. Fibromyalgia, Knee replacement (and other knee issues), spinal reconstructions and various other health issues. I have tried so many different muscle rubs, patches, and pills. For me, not much works real well, and I am always looking for something new to try.

Well, years ago, I remember using TigerBalm, regular. It worked pretty good, but, of course, if you use something too long, it just doesn't work very well anymore. So, I went back to trying out various other things, with no luck.

Now that I have all these new health issues, I mentioned, and the pain can be incredibly over the top. When we went shopping, I made my usual trip to the analgesic aisle. I saw several new things, but most too expensive to try. But there on the shelf was my old favourite and stand by, "Tiger Balm", but right next to it was something new, "Tiger Balm Ultra Strength".

I brought it home, and gave it a try. I put it on my knee which was screaming bloody murder at me by that time. And after about fifteen minutes, I could feel that old familiar tingling start to set in. Then it went beyond, and as time went on I started to feel a soothing warming sensation, and as more time went on, a cooling sensation moved in after the heat. Let me tell you, my knee was, as Phil Robertson says, "happy, happy, happy" ...LOL. I got some soothing relief that gave me some more freedom of motion, and pain relief than I had gotten from any other source.

The great thing about Tiger Balm, is that it is all natural. It doesn't rely on capsaicin like all the other sources use. Tiger Balm's main active ingredients are camphor and menthol. But the other ingredients clove, mint, and such, also give it a very pleasant scent that goes well with the warming and cooling qualities it gives you when you massage it in. The more you rub it in, the warmer/cooler the area becomes. And you won't smell like you came out of the locker room!

All I can say, is wash your hands thoroughly after use, and don't rub your eyes. This is a really great product and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If you want something that actually works, then this is the product for you.

Had a gall bladder flare up and had to figure out what triggered it, not real happy but it seems sausage is on my no no list (but i love sausage gravy too much to give it up, so we shall see). Jr, my son was sick most of the week, right when we were trying to play catch up with his homework and testing. But it hasnt stopped us from busting our can to get it all done.

Hubby hasnt felt good for the past week, I am kinda thinking the idea of another heart operation looming over him is really getting to him, even if he tries not to let it show. We just have to deal with his ever changing emotions, perhaps the surgery will put him back on the right track. I hate not knowing how to approach him and how he will react.

Jr turned into a teenager yesterday. He says it is just another day, but its a special day since he is entering a different phase in his life. He got a check from his grandmother yesterday, and he has decided that he will be buying pizzas for dinner tonight. Which that was awesome of him to share with his family...to make it even better and kick it up a notch, I told him my gift to him would be to add onto dinner...I am going to make garlic bread, cinnamon buns with that glaze, chocolate peanut butter bars and churros...I have never seen a smile so big in my life...I think I made his day. And I had a pint of honey vanilla frozen yogurt in the freezer and to end the day we split that little carton of ice cream between us...made his night.

I will be doing something a little different on here starting today. I came in contact with a gentleman from a company that produces a line of high end hair care products and skin care products. We will start out with "before" selfies, and take selfies all during the testing phase...and then a final selfie to show how much our hair has changed because of using his products. These products are used by some very well known individuals in hollywood...I will also review and describe each product that is used. These products are all natural, all natural ingredients.

So, my dear readers, you have a lot to look forward to, because beyond that product trial, i will be posting some really great recipes that I have tried this past week...my version of devilled eggs, my version of curried tandoori chicken, etc....keep your eyes open and try not to drool on your keyboard lol.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-10998558991104178732014-09-19T09:27:00.001-07:002014-09-19T10:36:00.574-07:00Fantastic SaleReaders, I know it is early, but the holidays are right around the corner, or maybe you have a bday coming up and no idea of what to give?
I am sorry I have been incognito for awhile but let me give you a little rundown, and you can see what's kept me off here for so long..

I went in for knee replacement surgery, during the last week of june, and that kept me flat on my back for at least 2 weeks. No fun, let me tell ya, to be honest, in hindsite, had I known there was going to be this much hassle and pain, I would have never had the surgery to begin with.

I just found out today, 9/15, that I will be going back in for a follow up surgery, tomorrow...nothing like last minute planning. I have been told it is a day procedure, not really surgery but they refer to it as such. It is supposed to be a procedure that only lasts about 30 minutes, of course, the last time I went in for a day surgery I was put in ICU for a week. So, we shall see.

About three weeks after having my knee surgery, I ended up back in the hospital. I was sicker than a dog, and had to be taken in to the er, where I was put thru every imaginable test, including giving up nearly 15 or so vials of blood. I was told, I now have to deal with gall stones, fibroids in my female parts, and blood clots stemming from my surgery. I can never get a break...

Had a biopsy done a couple of weeks ago, all tests came out negative for cancer. Thank God. That is the biggest break I could get.

So as you can see it has been extremely chaotic.

But, I am back, and I will be posting some fantastic recipes and reviews for you. So this is the first in a long line of posts. I hope to get some of these posts going today, if not by wednesday...and that is a promise.

If any of my readers out there have any ideas about what they would like to see me post, such as themes, recipe ideas, holiday ideas, etc...bring them on. Have any of you been looking for a long lost recipe, or recipes from certain restaurants you would like a copycat recipe of, just drop me a line.

Be writing at you very soon!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-65754351353009995782014-06-14T02:27:00.001-07:002014-06-14T02:27:02.468-07:00Review of Imperial Dragon's Coconut MilkAlright readers, pay attention, I have another great product here for ya...

As you all know, I do a lot of cooking and baking. Well, I decided to do a West Indian dish that called for coconut milk. I haven't bought coconut milk since I left California. But, looking around Walmart, I found a couple of different brands of coconut milk, but the one that caught my eye was Imperial Dragon's brand.

Imperial Dragon has a very eye catching label, it is the mid range pricing, not too cheap and not over the top expensive. It is a good sized can (13.5 fluid ounces, to be precise). So, I picked it up for the dish I was preparing. Needless to say, I was exceptionally happy that I did pick up this brand of coconut milk...The first thing I noticed, beyond the brightly coloured packaging, was the wonderful natural coconut smell that blossomed from the can. It smelled like fresh coconuts, not that artificial crap. Anyway, it had a wonderful consistency, nearly that of coconut cream! It was thick and luscious, silky. Perfect for the dish I was making. When I added it to my recipe, it blended well, and gave my dish a richness that I have not found in using other brands. The flavour it added was amazing...!! All I can say is that I can't wait to try other products from this company. Because after trying just one product, you can imagine I am already sold on this brand!

Go out and grab yourself some of this coconut milk...put it in ice cube trays, freeze it up and use the cubes in smoothies, or in tea for added richness and health benefits. It also works well if you are baking and want to add regular milk...use this coconut milk instead. It adds incredible depth of flavour, it's better for you than milk, and the health benefits are out of this world!

What more can I say? Stock up and try it for yourself! Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128354491691558432.post-16515752660113722572014-06-06T11:43:00.001-07:002014-06-06T11:43:39.881-07:00Glee products...Make Your Own Chocolate KitI have a very unique product to review for you, from a very interesting company. Most folks on the west coast and southwest (like me), have never heard of the Glee company or its products. But let me tell you, this is a company you may want to learn more about...for your own knowledge, purchasing pleasure and a great place to go for gifts.

Are you looking for something to do with your kids now that school is out? Are you looking at a gift for father's day? Birthdays coming up?

Here is a unique item called the "Make Your Own Chocolate Kit"....and it is literally just that...it is nothing like going to the store and picking up a chocolate bar and enjoying the flavour, right? Wouldn't you enjoy that chocolate a little more if you made it yourself, from fresh ingredients, so that you know exactly what goes into making your chocolate?

This kit takes you from the historical beginnings of the xolatl of the Aztecs to the chocolate we know today...

In this kit you get a brief historical tour of how chocolate begins and a very detailed instruction shee,
cocoa butter, confectioners sugar, paper candy liners, starter crystals, cocoa powder, temperature indicator, and whole cacao beans! It's all in there! The instructions even tell you what mix ins work well with this kit!

This is an incredible kit to make alone or better yet, with your kids. The simple instructions are easy enough for a child to follow, but mom and dad should always be with them because this does entail using the stove, and/or microwave and can cause burns if a child is not familiar with using this equipment properly.

Just to tell you a little more about this fantastic company...The idea for Verve, the makers of this fantastic kit, came about in 1992, when they visited an economically depressed, chicle producing community in Northern Guatemala. In case you were wondering, chicle is what gives gum its chewy consistency. Until their trip, they had never given any thought to what made gum chewy. Nowadays your big gum companies use synthetic chicle, since it is easier to come by, and quicker and easier to make than using natural products.

The goal of Verve, Inc. was to purchase chicle and support chicle harvesting, since it is a sustainable practice that benefits both rainforest conservation and the local economy in forest regions. Hence Verve was born and they have had a thriving company ever since. Their first product was something called the "Make Your Own Chewing Gum kit.

Now to be perfectly honest, everyone is getting tired of being the throwaway society, we are all doing what we can to live "green", we do our best to live sustainably, and are more aware of our "footprints". What better way to teach kids about such things than buying products from this amazing company!

And if this kit is any indication of how great their other products are, I am going to beat a path to the local store that sells their products (World Market, in my case) or online. I can't wait to try their whole line of products...and rest assured, I am going to stock up on their products for upcoming holidays, and hand a box of their products over to Santa to put in the kid's stockings at christmas...as long as he puts some in my stocking too!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18393718925697577097noreply@blogger.com0
